“It is very important not to mistake hemlock for parsley; but not at all so to believe or not in God.”
– Denis Diderot
Diderot wrote about his apathy toward existence of God once Voltaire accused him of being atheist. This quote hits close to home since fundamentalists and atheists are held equally in disdain when they impose their belief systems upon others, so oftentimes I come across as the enemy of their belief systems even though I grew up as an apatheist under self-practicing Christian parents who believed religions and politics are personal matters not discussed in front of anyone.
“It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”
Just a quote from a famous French writer. While this quote applies to Saint Exupért’s experience as an aviator, it is strangely ironic, true and completely backward in other situations. His fictional works can be found on public domain in Canada.
