My name is Dave; and by trade, I am a web-developer, a multimedia consultant and a writer– far from the ideal self. Secretly, there is a little kid inside gleeful over nature documentaries, an old fart resorting to the Hitler channel and an outwardly and socially-awkward teenager constantly getting into troubles out in the brush. “Prick-Eared” is a platform to marry reality and the ideal.

There was a pretty active and imaginative childhood in the small Prairie-town of Lethbridge; influenced by wildlife and paleontology. Having moved out to the boondocks, in the boreal backwater of northern Alberta, came an appreciation for primitive hunting dogs and the lifestyle in the North.

Upon moving to the big city to attend University of Alberta for a History and a Paleontology degree, it was like a fish out of water, amongst people who lost touch with their roots; and as a result, dabbled in herpetoculture as a way to amend the qualms of not having access to the forests. The remedy didn’t work, so British Columbia was next on the chopping block. The west coast is an interesting mix of folks with their own political views and views of the world on all ends of the spectrums with constant cultural clashes.

There are two dogs personally featured on the blog: “Riley” the Swedish Vallhund and “Tod” the Shiba Inu. “Rousseau” the ferret will make the occasional cameos.
